New Executive Officer

Holbrook Landcare welcomes Dr. Alison Southwell as our new Executive Officer. Many may already know Alison, who has most recently been lecturing in Agricultural Science at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga.

Alison was raised on the family farm and after graduating from the University of New England with BRurSc (Hons), undertook a PhD investigating the soil water dynamics beneath native pasture communities. She joined the staff of CSU in 2007, as a lecturer and had a major role in redesigning the Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree and developing the fourth year. She has been site leader for the Future Farm Industries CRC National Evergraze project for the Wagga Wagga region and has also managed farm systems/extension projects and PhD students locally and internationally. Her research interests include the eco-physiology of perennial pastures and grazing and farming systems management. In addition to her academic role, Alison operates a Merino sheep enterprise near Mangoplah.
