In 2024 we saw the creation of revised editions of two much loved revegetation guides – the South West Slopes Revegetation Guide & the Native Vegetation Guide for the Riverina (hardcopies of these guides are due for release in early 2025).

To compliment these guides, and to make so much more information accessible to the public, 2024 also saw the launch of a newly created revegetation website <www.revegetation.org.au>, dedicated to the South West Slopes and Riverina regions.

The book revisions and website creations were part of our Landcare-Led Project, a collaboration between Holbrook Landcare Network and Murrumbidgee Landcare Inc., and were made possible through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.

If you are thinking about undertaking revegetation on the farm, the guides and this interactive platform should be the first step in your revegetation journey…

The South West Slopes Revegetation Guide (2nd Ed.) will help you identify which trees, shrubs and groundcover species should be used in revegetation works in the South West Slopes area (north and south of the Murrumbidgee River), and gives descriptions of the different plants. The Native Revegetation Guide for the Riverina (2nd Ed.) will help you identify which trees, shrubs and groundcover species should be used in revegetation works in the Riverina region, and gives descriptions of the different plants. We encourage you to contact us any time you have a project you would like to do.  We can offer advice and mapping service and even if we don’t have funding available for it, it is very helpful for us to understand what people would like to do so we can actively source more funding.

The efforts of Landcarer’s and agencies over the past 30 years have had an impact on the Holbrook landscape over the long term.

In 2018 the Murray Local Land Services with Landcare partners undertook some analysis of revegetation in the catchment and a summary can be found here
