Soil Moisture Probes

Holbrook Landcare has four soil moisture probes in the area with the purpose of providing land managers with accurate, easily accessible, local data to enable more strategic management decisions on their farms.

These soil moisture probes provide users with information on:

  • Water content
  • Plant available water
  • Soil temperature
  • Rainfall (rain gauge fitted)

Holbrook Landcare Network’s four soil moisture probes are located at:

  • Culcairn
  • Mountain Creek
  • Little Billabong
  • Glenroy

Data Access

In collaboration with Murray Local Land Services, the four soil moisture probes are connected to Farming Forecaster – a pasture modelling tool that displays information on both current conditions and the likely range of pasture availability during the next 3-4 months, helping producers to reduce their risks around feed budgeting and stock management.
