Climate Smart Revegetation Plots

Australian Government's Climate-Smart Agriculture Program

Climate Smart Revegetation Plots on Farms in the Holbrook Landcare Network Region

Holbrook Landcare will establish four climate-smart revegetation demonstration plots on farms within the Holbrook Landcare Region with the aim of increasing the knowledge, skills and adoption of farmers, landholders and community groups in our region to broaden the genetic diversity of local native species. The demonstration sites will introduce plants with different provenances of the same selected local native species, from locations identified in the climate analogues tool from the Climate Change in Australia Website. This will help to maintain locally adapted genetic material in the species selected, while bringing in new genetics to make the local populations more robust. The overall aim of the project is to demonstrate how to build the resilience of native vegetation in the face of a changing climate.

We are looking for expressions of interest from landholders in the Holbrook Landcare Region who might be interested in hosting a Climate Plots Demonstration Site in 2025 & 2026. Click this link or use the QR code below to express an interest.

The project will also host two workshops, which will be held over the two-year period of the project to increase awareness of the Climate Plots sites and increase knowledge and understanding of climate-ready revegetation ecology and management practices. The workshops will be open to all landholders, First Nations groups, community groups and professionals to attend and will incorporate a climate-smart plant giveaway.

The “Climate Smart Revegetation Plots on Farms in the Holbrook Landcare Network Region” project, is supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program under the Natural Heritage Trust.
