Farming Forecaster Seasonal Outlook

Join Murray Local Land Services and Holbrook Landcare Network for a webinar exploring the latest pasture growth outlooks and practical grazing strategies for a potentially short, warm and dry spring.

With warm conditions prevailing since April, pastures and crops are racing ahead of the usual seasonal timeframes, though many locations still have good soil moisture reserves. With the possibility of a bob-tail spring, how can you manage pastures to maintain quality growth for longer and make the most of that available moisture?

Our speakers will cover:

  • an overview of what the Murray Farming Forecaster sites are predicting for pasture growth
  • what the Farming Forecaster soil moisture probes are showing and the implications for producers
  • what the warm conditions mean for pasture/crop maturity and fodder quality
  • grazing options to maintain quality pasture in the paddock
  • management options if spring conditions close out early.

There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, discuss local challenges and hear what other producers are doing.
