Holbrook Landcare Network has won a Fairfax Media Landcare Community Group Award at the 2015 NSW Landcare & Local Lands Services Conference in Orange this week.
This award recognises the achievements of outstanding community groups working towards sustainable land use and undertaking on-ground action to achieve community outcomes.
The event celebrated the passion and diversity of Landcare, with around 250 people attending from Landcare and community groups, farmers, Aboriginal groups, industry and government organisations from across NSW.
Holbrook Landcare Network is a vibrant rural organisation that is run by a dedicated volunteer Board, managing a range of agricultural and NRM projects to deliver information and support to our community, predominantly mixed farmers. The network supports farmers to achieve environmental outcomes whilst improving agricultural productivity.
In receiving the award, Holbrook Landcare Network Board member, Dougald Frederick stated “it was pleasing that the award recognised HLN’s outstanding community contribution and its ability to work with producers in achieving measurable outcomes”. “The award is great recognition of the continuing importance of the groups role in natural resource management and builds on a proud history of previous achievements” he said.
